How Stamped Concrete Works
Preparation and Base Work
Stamped concrete starts with the same careful preparation as any quality concrete work. We excavate, grade for drainage, install a solid base, and add reinforcement. This foundation is critical because stamped concrete cannot be easily patched or repaired if problems develop later.
Coloring and Stamping
We add color using integral color mixed throughout the concrete, color hardener broadcast on the surface, or both. Then we press stamp mats into the concrete while it is still soft enough to take the pattern but firm enough to hold its shape. This timing is critical and requires experience to get right.
Finishing and Sealing
After the concrete cures, we wash off residue and apply a high-quality sealer. This sealer protects your investment, enhances the color, and makes the surface easier to clean. Resealing every 2 to 3 years keeps your stamped concrete looking fresh and prevents wear.
